Daily Dose of Culture and Politics: January 9, 2012

Traditional and the New

The Government, the Greeks, and the Politicians. These three are the main symbols for politics. When an ordinary citizen looks at them, they are easily reminded of power, money, and discussions over the state. But, words like dance, songs, and language doesn’t express as much as political gravity as the first three words mentioned. The question now is: Do we just set them aside? I believe in the saying that art imitates life and life imitates art. This means that we should look beyond the obvious, and look at ourselves. How we vote, Who we listen too, and Why do we believe in one idea, matters than just looking at the government as the essence of the political. And at the end, we will find ourselves in a state that we have a stake in.
