Who am I?

I am female. I am Filipina. I weigh 120lbs. normal. My height is 5’3. Normal. I come from a middle class family. Normal.

Clearly, I must be the most average girl based from the profile above. Gender-wise, I am subordinate. Nationality-wise, I am also subordinate, because I am not white. My weight and my height, I believe, are normal. And, I am neither poor nor rich. Now, do you know me?

My identity cannot be summed up in a fact sheet. I feel like in today’s world just knowing one’s nationality and gender, there are already assumptions on who you might end up to be. But, society also shape minds. Institutions dictate actions, and expectations push individuals.

I am different from the next 5’3, 120lbs Filipina you meet. This is because I read different books, listened to different music, and watched different movies. My identity is beyond the life I am living now. It goes up to the point of who I want and can be. Wait for it!
